About Us

The Alliance for Conflict Transformation (ACT) is a non-profit organization that empowers people to resolve conflict and build peace. We have over 20 years of experience promoting conflict transformation and peacebuilding.

ACT was established in 1999 by an alliance of skilled professionals who have conducted conflict transformation and peacebuilding projects in over 40 countries.

ACT recognizes that conflict is an inseparable part of human interaction. When addressed effectively, it can lead to peaceful and positive change.

ACT works in partnership with people and communities to transform destructive conflicts by identifying and addressing underlying needs and concerns, building sustainable relationships, and changing the contexts and conditions that foster violence.

ACT believes that conflicts are embedded in relations at the individual, interpersonal, organizational, community, and international levels, and include psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, political, historical, and economic dimensions. We use multi-faceted approaches to develop better understandings of conflict situations and create effective interventions.

ACT works with educators, youth, community and religious leaders, non-governmental organizations, and governmental agencies to transform conflicts into opportunities for peaceful change.
